It’s gone a little quiet over here at my virtual home. The same can’t be said for my IRL (in real life) home.
School’s out and there’s some summer fun going on.
As an advocate of scheduling the holidays (even PJ days get allocated!) there hasn’t been opportunity for the Kids to get bored, or for me to blog much. But that’s okay. Summer break from school won’t be an infinite luxury. I’m making the most of it while it’s still fun to hang out with Mom.
There’s a water fight going on outside currently, which I have politely declined, to pop by here and update on a couple of things. Do a little virtual housekeeping so to speak.
Remember my sentimental clutter?
Well, its still not disappeared. But there’s a plan. I’m going digital going forward. 95% of future items will be photographed or scanned. Based on The Frugal Girls recommendation I am going to check out My Publisher Photobooks. Any other suggestions are very welcome!
Alas it won’t be a complete boycott of paper. This scrapbook is to be filled in.
But more on this in a future post. We’re going to be talking travel.
Cast your mind back to May. Simply Being Mum’s Spring Sale 2013 commenced. Rather than a year-long sale, short and sharp was the order of the day.
By the end of July around £200 was generated by selling off redundant items.
I cannot recommend the eBay app enough. eBay through my PC was rather laborious. But not with the app. Sometimes getting something done is more important than procrastinating in an attempt to make it perfect. I’m happy to eat ‘Good Enough Chocolate Fudge Cake’. The eBay app means I can get items listed in a couple of minutes by using the iPhone camera rather than my DSLR.
How’s your Summer going? Are you having fun?

My winter is going well – it’s not very cold at the moment! And yes, I am having fun because I have a job!!!!!! Quite unexpected, but totally awesome 🙂 Teaching itinerant (I think you call it peripatetic or something equally hard to say!) at 3 local schools for 12 hours a week. LOVING it, but it is making it a little hard to catch up on my blog reading 🙂 and my housework…I have quickly realised which jobs are essential and which I was just doing to fill in time. Folding laundry? Bah. That’s sooooo not happening! We also had fun last weekend by visiting our favourite waterfall in the Hunua Ranges. And we finally figured out how to drive up to the one reservoir that you don’t have to hike to. A gorgeous drive through native bush, then a short walk to the most glorious view over the reservoir and countryside. Can’t wait to go for another visit, but I doubt any other visit will be as perfect 🙂 Hope you continue to have a super fun holiday 🙂

Many congratulations Clare. You sound very happy! The falls sound amazing. I hope to visit NZ one day and most certainly will be seeking your advice on what to see and do.
Have fun!

Just realised I didn’t say I was teaching – flute! It’s so great to be doing something I have spent so much of my life passionate about 🙂 And when you get down here one day we will happily advise and tour guide round Auckland 🙂
