It’s Friday. It’s Food Waste Friday.
It’s my week to host after being kindly invited to do so by Kristen.
So wherever I am and whatever I am doing – Food Waste Friday happens.
(if you’re participating please remember the hashtag on social media #FoodWasteFriday)
It’s likely I’m lying in a hospital bed recovering from surgery this morning.
Hence I have no clue what’s in my fridge today. The photo above is from last September.
I didn’t get chance to do my Friday routine on Wednesday, as I was against the clock. You may have read about it.
Asking the hubby to follow my Friday routine may be a matrimonial favour a step to far.
(After all I’m going to be calling in a few favours over the next few weeks in my immobile state.)
Today is a good opportunity to remind me, and you, that it’s great to have routines and plans. It keeps us all focussed, mindful and on track.
But as John Lennon himself noted “life is what happens when you are busy making other plans”.
It seems that this is very poignant for me at the moment.
There’s been a lot of ‘life’ happening the last few weeks, that has meant food waste hasn’t been my main priority. But it’s still a priority.
So, use this space to share your Food Waste this Friday. I may not know what’s in my fridge, but providing I have access to wi-fi during my ‘mini-break’, I’d love to read about what’s going on in yours.
Is it full to the brim or sparse and bare? Please share!
As always I will leave the last word to Kristen The Frugal Girl and founder of #FoodWasteFriday
Those of you who participate in Food Waste Friday can now grab a fancy-schmancy button to perk up your posts. If you copy and paste the following code into your Food Waste Friday post, this little graphic will appear.”
If you blog on WordPress, just make sure you’re in html mode when you copy and paste the code, or it won’t work

I do my weekly shop on a Tuesday, so Monday is when my fridge is looking pretty bare. Fridays are usually okay. Though I did realise last night that I had been so busy racing around getting dinner prep done in the afternoon and then rushing to pick up children, take them to the library and swimming lessons and back home in time for dinner and bed, that I’d forgotten to buy more bread, so 5yo son went to school this morning with an entertaining lunch box! We’ve got a nice bowl full of pulled beef brisket – that’s what we had for dinner last night, and the remainder will form the basis for a new take on cottage pie on Saturday night. Friday night is usually a “something easy from the freezer” night. I have a nice plan for a prawn and pepper pasta bake on Sunday night, but once we get to Monday it’s touch and go whether there’s anything good left!
Hope you’re back on your feet soon.

We had a smorgasbord for dinner last night – that’s where I pull out all of the leftovers from the week and everyone chooses their own dinner. So, the fridge is pretty empty at the moment. Friday nights are usually our grocery shop night, unless we’re just too wiped out, then we’ll go on the Saturday morning instead. Jo, I wish you a very speedy recovery with as little pain as possible; also, as little boredom as possible, cause I know once you’re back on your feet you’ll be ready to go again! xo

Jo, I hope you recover soon from your surgery! We had more waste than I was hoping for but I did manage to save quite a few things too, which kind of evens it out. http://imperfectlyfrugally.blogspot.com/2015/01/food-waste-friday_23.html
Still not taking a picture of my fridge but it’s so full I can’t possibly cram another thing in there (I do my weekly shopping on Wednesdays, I’m buying (and consuming) a lot more vegetables than usual due to my trying to get healthier this year AND we have a few leftovers in there as well).
