Every week, for over 4 years now, I have participated in Food Waste Friday.
I was introduced to Food Waste Friday by Kristen over at The Frugal Girl, who is the original inspiration behind it.
Over 2 years ago, Kristen asked me to host on alternate Friday’s.
Food Waste Friday is a meeting point, for those of us who are mindful of the food we waste in our homes. An opportunity to link up. To be accountable. Being accountable, as we all know, is a great way to keep on track, and achieve our goals.
Did you know that in the UK, it’s estimated that each month an average family throws away £60 worth of food (source: Love Food Hate Waste).
Not at Chez Wright. Not any more anyway. Maybe a few years ago.
But since participating in Food Waste Friday what food is disposed of, has reduced dramatically. The aim is to have no waste each week, but that isn’t always the case. 4 years ago I devised my own Food Waste Friday routine which I named No Waste Tastes Great. This routine has reduced my food waste dramatically. The food now wasted at Chez Wright is minimal.
Once a week I:
1. Empty my fridge
2. Clean my fridge
3. Establish what is waste
4. Identify what (& how) food can be saved
5. Photograph my fridge and blog about it. I talk about what waste I have and why, what I can save and how.
That’s what I do each and every Friday. And I cordially invite you to do the same. To link up here at my blog, or over at The Frugal Girl on alternate weeks.
This Friday I won’t be walking through my routine, as I do most Fridays. It’s my fathers funeral. So I wrote this last night. My routine will wait till Saturday this week.
The blog’s still open for you all to link up, whether I’m around or not. So as usual I will leave the last word to Kristen
Those of you who participate in Food Waste Friday can now grab a fancy-schmancy button to perk up your posts. If you copy and paste the following code into your Food Waste Friday post, this little graphic will appear.”

If you blog on WordPress, just make sure you’re in html mode when you copy and paste the code, or it won’t work
I’ll see you next week over at Kristen’s. And the week after please do head back on over here where I will be outlining my new No Waste Tastes Great/Food Waste Friday 2015 routine. I’ve lots to share!

Thinking of you today, Jo. The day of my dad’s funeral people had to leave early as we were hit with a major blizzard! My brother and his wife, who live about 15 hours south, ended up having to leave the road & stay in a hotel for two days. That was in a January, also. I hope you at least have good weather so that those who have to travel are safe. Looking forward to lots of good info & sharing this year. xo

Sorry for your loss and I am also sorry the weather was so bad on the day of the funeral too.
So sorry for your loss. As I was travelling home after I lost my dear Dad, I looked out the airplane window and was astonished that the sun was still rising. It does eventually get easier, and I still have dreams of him when I am facing difficult times, even after 25 years.

Sorry for the loss of your father. I understand completely — my father passed away in March 2014 (a week after his birthday). Praying for you and your family.
