This weekend the Wright’s arrived at Christmasland.
We usually land the first weekend in December. And this was…the first weekend in December.
The annual pilgrimage to the local forest took place Saturday morning.
It did feel we arrived a little late this year. In fact we were told that the majority of the larger trees had sold out the weekend before. Hence we went a little smaller this year, but it’s still lovely and saved us some pennies.
Daddy carried the tree. Mommy took photographs.
This years handmade baubles were hung on the tree.
(unfortunately Dan’s hand-painted reindeer from 2011 fell off the tree, and sustained an injury! See Instagram)
The olds had their first snowball of the year. Click here if you have no idea what I’m talking about – we add lime to ours also. The Hubby even made me pop to the shop on the way home as we hadn’t any lemonade in the house. Decorating the tree just would not feel the same without our traditional drink.
I may be taking Christmas off this year, so were skipping the stuff I feel obligated to do. The tree isn’t an obligation, it’s a pleasure.
We have lots of festive fun planned, it’s all starting to feel a lot like Christmas.
Have you arrived at Christmasland yet?
Comment number 5 was selected to receive the Aldi Christmas Pudding. Congratulations Keeley please e-mail me the delivery address!
p.s I’ve used the term Christmasland ever since I heard comedian David Mitchell do a monologue about it a few years back. Google ‘Christmasland David Mitchell’ if you’d like to hear it.

Tree looks beautiful. I’m different from you i always feel like the tree is a chore, hence my twig like paired back one this year! My friend and i were talking christmas, she asked me if we were done shopping. I casually said ‘oh yeah, a couple of weeks ago’ She had a look of horror on her face. I explained that i had pared presents right back, no wrapping and no cards this year (except for a couple of elderly rellies who like the yearly update) and told her how good it felt and that i’m not ever going back to the panic-mayhem buying of the past 🙂
Love the snowball thingy, ours is ‘Irish coffee’ !
