School’s out in our neck of the woods.
It’s day 1 and so far we’ve done clay modelling, dance practice and First-born is taking a literacy class in the playroom. She has two willing(ish) students.
Next on the list is swimming.
We do like to make the most of our school holidays at Chez Wright. If you’re a regular reader, you’ll know school holiday activities get scheduled. As Gretchen Rubin would say:
“The days are long but the years are short”
We’re intending to enjoy childhood, as much as we possibly can.
There’s just the one day out planned this week. Not because of the stormy weather that has hit our small island. Rather we have lots of playdates arranged this week instead.
Last half-term one day out went down exceptionally well with the Kids. They visited Blackpool for the first time.
We even went to the top of Blackpool Tower as part of the Blackpool Tower Eye and Skywalk experience. A big deal for someone as scared of heights as I am.
Not that I’m scared of everything.
There was one attraction that I would have loved to have visited whilst at Blackpool Tower.
The Dungeons.
We didn’t book tickets for The Dungeons. Instead we enjoyed drinks in the Tower Ballroom (well worth a visit), marveled at the Tower Circus, and generally had a great day out and about on the seafront.
This wasn’t the first time I wished I’d booked tickets for The Dungeons. The previous October half-term we’d had a lovely overnight trip to London. A wonderful city.
As we approached Traitors Gate on our Thames boat trip, I instantly regretted not scheduling in a trip to London Tower. And once again The Dungeons.
So, when it was suggested I run a Dungeon giveaway on my blog – I jumped at the opportunity.
**I don’t get any tickets Guys, and I’m not compensated in any way for this post. I like to run giveaways that I’d enter, for places and products that I myself would enjoy and recommend. It’s a treat for my readers**
The prize is a complimentary family ticket, valid at one of 4 Dungeons UK locations – London, York, Blackpool or Edinburgh.
To enter simply drop a comment in below. I’d love to hear what you’re scared of!
Don’t forget to share the love and tell your friends!

I hate fun park rides where you are spun round and round but have been to Alton towers with my children so they could enjoy them – never again!

I’m really scared of dogs and dentists! Lol. I could run and scream if a dog comes near me, sometimes a high pitch squeal comes out. Then dentists, don’t get me started. Actually that’s unfair – it’s not the actual dentist it’s those little picky tool things and the mirror he uses. Eek.
simplybeingmum says
You wouldn’t have liked the Victorian Dentists we visited yesterday then! The instruments looked very picky… Entry number 5!

Great giveaway! Heights don’t bother me but crikey that photo! Well done you.
My fear is being in murky water, my mind goes into overdrive imagining what’s lurking beneath. Not the normal stuff, but things like mutant killer rats, killer corpses, killer clowns etc. I put this down to reading far too many horror books as a teen 🙂 Friends bought me a Wakeboard lesson for my 30th, that was not a good birthday!!
simplybeingmum says
Emma I read way too much horror as a teenager also. It’s made me a little nervous of looking in the mirror late at night when I’m home alone (I always imagine someone will be standing behind me)… Entry 8.

I’m not good with heights and once screamed so loud when at the top on a big wheel, that I could be heard all the way at the bottom – I’m a wimp when it comes to scary films too!!
simplybeingmum says
Now big wheels are something I’d never even attempt, they go way too slow and always stop at the top! Entry 9 – good luck!

I wouldn’t like to be on the edge of a cliff, especially at the moment! Scary rides too, I once had to stop the Corkscrew at Alton Towers to get off just before it started, leaving my child to ride on their own – what a wimp.
simplybeingmum says
That really made me laugh (corkscrew anecdote)! Entry 10 – good luck!
