No Waste Tastes Great – This is the day I challenge myself to use up any potential foodwaste, or if the fridge and cupboard is bare the Hubby and I get a take-away! The Kids (who have had a hot meal lunch-time) always get something nutritious rustled up from my store cupboard and freezer stocks.
At the end of the simple meal plan I now like to include a link to a great read I have found during the week…
This week I highly recommend the following post by Tanja at Minimalist Packrat
It’s a Brand New Minimalistish Movement
It’s a long post (so have your cuppa to hand before starting) and took Tanja 6 hours to write it – but it was worth it.
The comments are fabulous also – definitely worth a read!
Have a lovely weekend everyone – back Monday
🙂

I enjoy your weekly menus. They help me see that I could be managing to cook fresh foods more often. Some weeks I do very well, others…

Fail to plan – plan to fail !!
🙂
Once you have drafted out a couple of meal plans repeat week in week out and you will be sorted.
Give it a go!
ps – slow cook – seriously it’s the future
😉
Robert Wall says
You could modify that statement a bit, jazz it up with some marketing spin, and use it as a slogan….”slow-cooked – it’s the new fast food”. 😀
Just a thought.

Jo you are sooo organized. I don’t think I’ll ever get to the point where I can schedule meal plans like that (but I’d like to!) If I can contemplate 2 or 3 days ahead I always feel like I’m doing really good. You show me there’s a whole new world of possibilities!
I may be minimal but I haven’t mastered organizing yet!
Cheers,
Tanja
simplybeingmum says
Oh Tanja it’s soooo easy! There is a whole world of possibilities.
🙂
Compare my awfully sophisticated descriptions in my post to my not very sophisticated descriptions on my Menu Board! The meals are very simple, basic and in essence highly minimal – the majority of Dinners are cooked in one pot – my slow cooker. Takes 15 minutes to plan and about 30 mins to do my on-line shop.
I’m actually going to do a beginners guide to meal planning as a post, so if you do fancy going for 6 days instead of 2-3 – pop back!
On another note you got amazing comments on your blog ref Minimalistish. I’m actually working my way through them – but it’s going to take an age as so many people commented! Fab post!

Jo, your “Slow Cooked Mediterranean Lasagne” is a link, but unless I’m missing something there’s no recipe for it on the page it links to.
Care to share?
simplybeingmum says
As always Robert – spot on! The link actually goes to a no waste day when I had all the ingredients for the lasagne and made it but never posted the recipe. It was a bit of a tenuous link but what the hell?
🙂
I am going to put the recipe up on Monday because it is really good, I’ll change the link then!
Ref your strapline for slow cooking – like it – can I have it?
Robert Wall says
Ah, I see. It’s all so clear to me now. 😀 I’ll be waiting for the recipe.
You’re welcome to use the line about slow-cooking all you want. If you get rich and famous off of it, buy me some expensive beer or a gold-plated slow cooker or something. 😀

Really nice simple comfort food this..I followed the recipe whilst adding a few spices, paprika, chilli and a little cayenne pepper… really adds to the dish imo…. I’ve also added chopped black pudding in the last couple of hours of cooking and whilst black pudding isn’t for everyone it’s a must if you do..not tried the egg as yet but imagine that would be lovely too..almost an all day breakfast!
keep up the good work.
Danny 🙂
