It’s an early #foodwastefriday today. We have a busy weekend in Blackpool ahead, and it’s time to get on the road.
This was my Fridge yesterday.
Since starting to eat more ‘Paleo’ there’s been a definite increase in the amount of fruit and vegetables inside.
Interestingly however not an increase in fruit and vegetable waste.
Smoothies seem to be saving the day.
I have been following some recipes, but have also been making up my own. I’m successfully whizzing any potential waste.
It seems anything goes.
Do you whizz your potential waste? And have you any favourite combinations to share?
How’s your food waste and fridge looking this Friday? Please do share in the comments below!
As always I’d like to thank Kristen, The Frugal Girl, the original inspiration behind Food Waste Friday.

Yay to paleo!
Since eating mostly paleo, and having two, constanty hungry boys, my cooking simplified greatly. Meat and two or three veg. This is what the boys & DH in the house want, like and eat, so this is what I cook mostly.
Boring? Maybe. We still have our fish, seafood, beef, poultry, leftovers day and the Friday pizza night. We hardly ever eat pasta, and rarely have rice or potatoes.
It’s easy, no waste and everyone eats well! 🙂

I’ve never used a recipe for a smoothie. My method contains bananas for thickening and leftover fruit for the rest. The wetter fruits (melon, citrus) call for more bananas. If I misjudge and it’s too thick, then I add some yogurt or milk. Or just eat it with a spoon.
Food Waste:
– Most of a head of lettuce, which mysteriously rotted IN THE MIDDLE. Not the outside, folks, from halfway through. So of course I didn’t see it. I ripped off the goopy parts and thoroughly washed the rest but most of that head went into the compost pile.
– Maybe: pizza dough. I was invited out for pizza for dinner after I mixed up pizza dough. I haven’t had time to make and freeze it since. The dough is in my fridge. If it’s no good, I will try to take comfort in the fact that the ingredients cost less about $.50 and the dough will feed my plants next year.

Same here for the smoothies. Anything goes, no recipes. Banana(s), and from there… kale, any fruits, and ground flax seeds. Mmmmm!

We had some leftover boiled potatoes and a veggie curry lingering so I blitzed the curry, chopped te potatoes and added some more spices. Now we’ve a side of Bombay potatoes – kind of – in the freezer for another time

Yes! Smoothies are my favorite way to avoid waste. We keep a bowl in the freezer for anything that is about to go bad. So happy you are doing well with Paleo!
