My Very First Open House

September 25, 2014 by SimplyBeingMum

I decided last week that I wanted to open up the blog, on a Thursday, to all my lovely virtual friends. My first dilemma. What to call it? I've always seen my blog as my virtual home, a place to greet and meet and have conversations about all sorts of things. After putting a call out for inspiration on Facebook, 'Open House' sprang to mind. Because it's ...

How To Win A Minion / Focus 2014

June 16, 2014 by SimplyBeingMum

I know how to win a minion. Not a million, but a minion. We frequently holiday at traditional British seaside towns. As someone who believes in developing traditions and creating memories for the Kids, each holiday typically includes a brief visit to an amusement arcade. This last holiday to Norfolk was no exception. This post isn't a debate on the ...

Remembering To Be Mindful

May 20, 2014 by SimplyBeingMum

I grew up watching Ruby Wax on UK television. If my, now fading, memory serves me correctly, there was one show I particularly enjoyed, where Ruby went out and about meeting people. And that's as much as I can remember about the detail. In my defence we are going back a couple of decades. What I do remember is she was funny. I have always found Ruby Wax ...

Make Decluttering A Daily Habit

May 13, 2014 by SimplyBeingMum

Frequently experts advise the way to achieve your goals is to work toward them daily. I'm someone who rebelled against routine for many years, believing myself to be a free spirit, ready to go wherever the wind blows. Rather than a creature of habit - a creative creature of dreams and wishful thinking. All of my spare time during my early 20's was spent ...

It's Friday Guys - time for No Waste Tastes Great Simply Being Mum's Friday Fridge What's behind the closed-door? My groceries for the week. Packed to the rafters. Food Waste Friday / What Does Dinner Mean To You?

May 2, 2014 by SimplyBeingMum

Each week since March 2008, in order to motivate her to waste less food, Kristen The Frugal Girl, has posted a picture of any food that has gone bad over the last seven days. She found this embarrassing practice so helpful, to her, that she invited other bloggers to post their own photos, and Food Waste Friday was born. I started participating in October ...

Declutter 20 Things In 20 Minutes

March 18, 2014 by SimplyBeingMum

I've suffered from procrastination for most of my almost 40 years. I know, categorically, that I procrastinate for two reasons: 1. I don't know where to start 2. I feel overwhelmed by what I need to do The two reasons are intrinsically linked. I say I've suffered for 'most' of my 'almost 40 years' because I recently discovered how to overcome ...

Welcome to SimplyBeingMum – one mother’s personal website documenting the journey toward a family life simply done. Here you will find a collection of recipes, ideas, musings and philosophies related to families who feel a pull toward a more conscious, mindful and simpler way of life.

You don’t have to homeschool or bake your own bread daily (I do neither of those things – well actually I do homeschool now we are in lockdown!) to hang out here. At whatever stage of your journey, you are on, you are very welcome. I personally still have a long way left down my own path and find that by blogging about it, it helps to keep me on track.

Please stay a while, have a meander around, see what takes your interest, and do join in the discussion.
