It’s Friday Guys.
Food Waste Friday.
Every Friday I follow my No Waste Tastes Great routine. You can watch how I do it here.
And I photograph my fridge.
Simply Being Mum’s Friday fridge
Looking good. Not a lot to say or save really. It’s worth noting that I have a lot of Grana Padano cheese still to use up. But I have a plan. There’s always a plan.
((I brought a HUGE slab of Grana Padano back from the Top Chef competition last Saturday – much has been given to friends and family. You can read all about my experience here and Galina (the winner) has written a fabulous round up post of the day here))
On the counter I also have a bowl of home grown cooking apples, donated by a friend.
The plan this weekend is to rustle up the crumble I made at the cookery competition.

It was a Grana Padano crusted apple and fig crumble. It tasted surprisngly good. Why surprisingly? Well I had never made it before – just conjured it up on the day. I do like to live by the seat of my pants 😉
(not surprisingly I didn’t win – Galina from Chez Maximka did – quite rightly so! You can read her Ricotta cake recipe from the day here. It tasted fantastic!)
So, no waste will indeed taste great once I get baking. I’m hoping to spend the day in the kitchen tomorrow, with the Kids’, batch cooking lot’s of crumble to distribute among family and friends.
I’ll be posting the step by step recipe over the weekend.
But before that I need to go get some groceries as the fridge is uber-bare.
My meal plan is on the menu board already, and the grocery list is written.
It’s looking good this Friday!

Gosh you are so organised! I’d be ashamed to share my fridge, it’s scary. I wasted two lemons this week and some blueberries but I did use leftover cooked cavolo nero to make a deliciously simple chicken soup to take to work, really like how the cavolo fits in with the warming soup .. shame my container (re-used plastic pot) actually leaked all over my scooter top box. So wasnt quite the soup I had planned 🙂
