I set myself (and you) a challenge two weeks ago.
Click here to find out more about Simply Being Mum’s £600 Summer Challenge.
To make £600 selling unwanted items (otherwise known as clutter) from around the home.
My deadline is the end of August – not too far in the future
I’ve still £596.76 to go.
I’m thinking a little more effort may be required on my part?
So, what’s been happening to generate the grand total of £3.24 to date?
You guessed it. Not a lot.
Now I’m not one for making excuses.
I could blame the weather (it’s been so hot! it would be a waste to spend time decluttering inside).
I could blame lack of time (I’m just so busy at the end of the school year with sports days and events).
I could blame my workload (so many projects to complete before the Kids break up from school).
Or I could be completely honest and confess that I just haven’t invested enough time in collecting all the items together to start listing them in bulk on eBay. Because that would be the truth.
Being the self-aware person I am, I know that I am £596.76 off my target because I haven’t pulled my finger out. Yet.
It’s on the cards. I’m anticipating next Wednesday’s check in with a figure will be much improved. The saleable items stash is coming together nicely and I’m ready to get listing, and even potentially do a car-boot-sale Sunday weather (and no hangover from a party the night before) permitting.
But that’s enough about me. How’s for £600 challenge coming along? I’m thinking my lack of progress isn’t typical!
Do you have tips to share?
Do you have motivation to give?
Or just check in with the amount you’ve raised toward your £600 target! (or $600 target. or…)

LOL This is the first I’ve heard of your challenge but I like it. And I LOVE your honesty about just not investing the time! We’re all guilty there. What have you sold so far?

Just a DVD. I do have other listings on eBay which will sell and I have a stash to list! Just followed your blog 🙂

Thank you! 🙂

Love your honesty Jo! You really do have to be in the right mood and with the right circumstances to do online listing. I’m saving my next lot up for when the kids go back to school next week. So far I’ve made $414, all of which is going into my travel fund so we can go and see my Gran in January. Enjoying the process (so far). Good luck with your listings!

£109.59 in. My ‘rule’ is 4 things listed on lebay at anyone time. I’m busy and this is managable. Once an item sells i relist another. I try and keep like with like as if someone is looking for football boots and you have 2 they sometimes with a postage discount (this happened recently) As for motivation, mine is a neautral christmas. I like the feung shei element as in one in/one out. The clutter i clear today is making room for new things and experiences.
This is really helping me keep on track Jo! Love it
