Things have been getting so intense over here at Chez Wright. It’s definitely reflected in my writing.
So glad you Guys have stuck around.
I’m starting to bore myself, I don’t know how it feels for you. Boring maybe? Too serious?
Have you seen my sense of humour anywhere?
I read a post this morning that made me laugh out loud. And boy was that needed!
Possibly my favourite line was:
” Sometimes listening to actual music on an iPod. Bastard.”
When I had my first child, in 2005, there was no Facebook (okay so there was, just, but not in my world), and I didn’t even know what a blog was until 2009.
But had I known, and had ‘The Unmumsy Mum’s’ post been written back then, I would have been able to relate. My memory isn’t so faded, and rose-tinted, that I have forgotten my first experience of the ‘Toddler Years’. I’d have laughed then also, but possibly hysterically. I was a little unhinged during those years. Don’t believe me? Ask my friends. Probably best to avoid the question around the Hubby. He may still be traumatised.
Second time around with the ‘Toddler Years’, I generally laughed more, and less hysterically. Everything was a lot lighter.
Life’s very different now. I don’t yearn to return to the ‘Toddler Years’. And that doesn’t make me a bad parent. My children are truly are the most important thing in the world to me. They were then, and are now. But it ain’t a bed of roses being a Mum.
Wherever you are in your family life, if you’ve been through the ‘Toddler Years’ the post may make you laugh too.
“To truly laugh, you must be able to take your pain, and play with it.” Charlie Chaplin

Sincerely this is a terrific post. To write with humour, in my opinion, is one of the hardest things you can do. It takes true talent.

I’ve had a quick look around and I can’t find your sense of humour, sorry. I even tried down the back of the sofa. 😉

I knew it. It’s definitely gone. 😉

Have a look just over your shoulder – I see it peeking out there 🙂
You’re right, that is a great post. It’s been over 25 years since I’ve been in those shoes, but the memory of it is still alive and well!

I haven’t brushed my teeth yet today and its 8.45pm. Did I just admit that on my blog? No point now will wait till bedtime! I don’t have toddlers to blame just crutches. So tired of going up and down stairs. First day though I have been so lazy!

A smile or a laugh is always a good thing. However, you have had a lot of very difficult life issues to deal with recently and sometimes it feels better to cry than laugh. Which is a good thing too. In the meantime, I usually watch an old TV show that always makes me laugh when I want a pick-me-up.

I love stand up comedy. Might track some down on Netflix

Such a great post, thanks for sharing ?. Definitely hits home as I have a toddler and a baby! Getting out of the House feels like a major accomplishment. I’m sure any mom can relate!! You’ll find your sense of humour again… We all go thru seasons. Xx ??

Maybe you left it in your old hip? 😉 You’d better phone the hospital and see if they’ve put it in the lost and found! 😉

I’m in the toddler years and they are tough! At least they can make you laugh a little now.

Don’t lose your humour just yet – or ever!
Further down the line, supposed-to-be adultish kids can also be more than draining and then you’ve got parents/grandparents (and in my case older kids with kids, so grandkids…) to add to the pot and a marriage to keep going, as well… :O
The only solution is humour!!
