It’s been a while since there’s been an open house.
The timing felt right today. It is Thursday after all.
A week has passed since my hip surgery and I’m feeling pretty good, although immobile – hobbling around on crutches.
1 week down, another 3 to go.
I keep reminding myself that one day at a time is being ticked off, slowly and surely heading toward the 19 February. Which is also the date I hope to be able to drive again.
Fortunately I’m a patient person, and do not expect overnight results in anything that I do.
I also do not expect waiting alone to achieve the results required. Rather persistent and consistent effort working toward a goal, daily, is required. It’s physiotherapy day today.
Interestingly while typing up this post, for the first time in 40 years, I questioned why someone who is treated by a doctor is called a ‘patient’. Apparently it originates from Ancient Greece where it meant ‘the one who suffers’.
You learn something everyday, don’t you?
Do you have patience?
I love this song.
(Open House is a great way to carry on this conversation, or even start a new one. Remember I’m pretty much housebound – so hungry to hear news from around the world!)

Wishing you the least pain and discomfort, and the MOST ability to slow down and let others jump in! Love the song – gorgeous lead voice! Somehow Take That didn’t have a huge impact in North America. I am guessing they were deemed too mature compared to the other boy bands. I guess they were a Man Band.

Hi Jo! I love your new profile pic, which I guess was from the photo session you mentioned right before your surgery. Best of luck with your physio, painful but necessary, and your stores of patience will come in very handy. I’m meeting an old friend (haven’t seen her in at least 3 years) for breakfast on Saturday morning. I’ve decided that this is the year I will take care of my friendships, keep in touch with people, and just generally make an effort. It’s too easy for me to cocoon at home, especially in winter. I’d love to hear ideas from some of your other readers on how to keep touch with extended family & friends when we’re all living busy lives.

I’m not very good at being patient. I’m getting better, but still have much room to improve. I hope for a speedy recovery for you and hope all heals well. See, I can’t even be patient about someone else’ recovery process. WOW! π

I wish I had more patience. I need to work on that. It’s the reason I can’t sew. I can sew a straight line, but measuring and cutting and patiently working on a large project kills me.
I’m glad you are patient! You’ll need it during recovery. Keep up the good spirits, you’re in my thoughts!
