Do You Dream?
I’m not talking about dreams that occur in the 8 hours (if lucky!) when we are at rest.
(read about the fascinating stages of sleep here)
I’m talking about visualisation.
Visualise it. Realise it.
Have you ever seen something so clearly, in your mind, then it has happened?
I have.
Do you have a vision of the future you’d desperately like to come alive?
Imagine it.
It may sound like mumbo jumbo to some. And it may seem as though this type of mental attitude and approach only works for the elite, athletes, and those at the top of their game. But it doesn’t, it works for us all.
“Whatever the mind can conceive and believe, it can achieve.” Napoleon Hill
I’m not so naive to believe that this all happens without work and perseverance but by focusing on what you wish to achieve, it can happen. It all starts with that vision. It’s followed through with the belief it is achievable.
Because nothing is impossible. In fact just today, something that seemed impossible became reality.
Professor Geoffrey Raisman said what had been achieved was “more impressive than man walking on the moon” as paralysed man walks again after cell transplant. I’m listening to a fantastic interview, with him, on BBC Radio 2 as I type. I’m guessing the Professor had a dream?
“It’s kind of fun to do the impossible.” Walt Disney
Don’t know where to start?
Just start.
Sit still for 5 minutes, or 2, it doesn’t matter. Visualise what you want to achieve.
Then, if making lists is your thing, write it down clearly. Write it somewhere you can pick it up and read it when you need to focus on your dream.
Prefer pictures and images? Cut out clips from magazines and paste them in a scrapbook, or glue to a dream-board. Or, like me, pop it in a box.
(I’m a box fan!)

The mechanics don’t matter. It all starts with that vision. And continues with the belief.
This gig is short. We need to maximise our time and our opportunities, however we can.
“A year from now you may wish you had started today.” Karen Lamb
So, do you dream?

All those years ago when I was very ill and was told that I will not walk again and may not be able to have children, I spent months in hospital imagining myself walking down the street pushing a pram with my baby in it. After four years of hard work my dream did come true.
Now if I could do the same dream-magic in other areas in my life!? 🙂

Now that’s what I’m talking about! 🙂

I spent a lot of years working for very little money, yet dreaming of someday achieving financial independence. I know this sounds a little bit crazy and “out there”, but some part of me could actually see it – and I don’t just mean just imagining it. Some part of me absolutely KNEW that it would happen one day. Somehow having that knowledge made all the steps along the way seem easy – like they were just part of the plan. Learning to live on very little, learning how to make passive income… it all came slowly, but I knew that I was gonna make it happen. Then 8 years ago I did! It still amazes me! 🙂

Fantastic Cat – it doesn’t sound ‘out there’ to me. The same time scales as you 8 years ago I saw what would happen in my life, and it happened (slowly). Visualise it. Realise it!
