It’s Friday Guys – time for No Waste Tastes Great
Click here to learn about my simple Friday routine
Simply Being Mum’s Friday Fridge
Top Shelf – Spreads and cheeses
Top Middle Shelf – Strawberries, Grapes, Kiwi, Tomatoes and Cucumber
Bottom Middle Shelf – Ready-rolled puff pastry and pre-cooked salmon and mackerel
Bottom Shelf – Broccoli, cauliflower, carrots, shallots and Greek yoghurt
There isn’t any waste this week. It’s a Zero Waste Week for me. But more on the official Zero Waste Week later.
The success of this week, is attributable mainly to the fact that I have kept my eye on the prize. A lot of perishables have been blitzed into smoothies. My Instagram this week has been all about how I am #backontrack (with healthy eating). Apart from this Instagram post. Oops how did I manage to eat 2 Mr Kipling French Fancies? One after another? I’m not even very partial to French fancies.
The No Waste tastes Great plan this Friday is to use up the remaining fruit and salad over the weekend. We have an exciting day tomorrow, where a picnic is required.
The pastry is headed for this pie.
(not this actual pie of course! From the date on the top you can see it’s been well and truly consumed by now!)
I’ll be slow cooking the chicken today (once I have done my grocery shop) and topping with pastry after school. We’ve had a bit of a switch around with this weeks meal plan. The usual Friday fish and chip supper happened last night instead.
Want to start effectively meal-planning? Check this out.
The bottom shelf veggies will accompany the pie.
This just leaves the pre-cooked fish. It’ll be salad tomorrow, for us olds, to accompany the Kids pizza.
Yoghurt is easily used up at the moment. If it’s not topping up smoothies, it’s adorning fruit.
The futures bright. The futures zero waste!
Talking about zero waste, the official Zero Waste Week this year will be 1-7 September.
In my quest to reduce my wasteful habits further I am an ambassador this year
The theme is ‘One More Thing’. What’s that one more thing you could do to reduce your waste output further? I know what mine is. What’s yours? Please go take a look, and consider signing up?
And even if you don’t sign up, check out Rachelle’s blog. You may even see her taking Jeremy Irons for a naked shop – and hear her explaining to Jeremy how to reduce your potential for waste when out shopping.
How about you? How is your fridge looking this Friday? Any waste to declare?
Thanks as always to Kristen, The Frugal Girl, (the founder of Food Waste Friday and the inspiration behind No Waste Tastes Great)…Don’t forget to head on over to her’s to link up your Food Waste Friday post!
