It’s Friday Guys – Time for No Waste Tastes Great

Simply Being Mum’s Friday Fridge
There are the usual spreads and cheeses on the top shelf – in date.
I have 3 peppers and a few carrots also.
Finally the bottom shelf is home to a bowl of royal icing (leftover from cake class) and cream cheese frosting (leftover from a fat-free birthday cake I baked).
The carrots are a no-brainer. I’ll be rustling up another happy healthy heart carrot cake this weekend, and will use up the remaining frosting.
I’m back at cake class next week and the royal icing will easily last until then. This will save me making another batch.
Leaving just the peppers. They’re headed for a turkey stir fry for this evenings dinner.
And we’re done.
It is that simple. A little advance meal-planning and keeping my eye on the zero-waste prize throughout the week results in a great report for this Food Waste Friday.
Let’s hope I can say the same next week!
How’s your Fridge looking this Friday? Anything to declare? Or is it nice and bare? Please share…and don’t forget to drop a link in the comments if you’ve blogged about it!
No Waste Tastes Great is bought to you (as always) with thanks to The Frugal Girl for the original inspiration.

Not so great here. Ran across an apple that seemed to have mold around the core, and my son did not feel comfortable eating it and I did not disagree. The summer sausage, we opened around Christmas Eve had mold on it. I was just telling my family we either eat some that day, or I freeze it. Guess I should have frozen it earlier. Haven’t had summer sausage mold that much before. And summer sausage is not cheap stuff and this was a decent amount of it. 🙁

Congratulations on no food waste. I was unexpectedly called out of town, so I didn’t have time to check for waste. Unfortunately, I think there is a lot to be found when I do look.

Well done, Jo. I had some mushrooms dry up to an un-usable state, but I think that was it. I had several saves, mostly by freezing (cooked ground beef, and mashed potatoes), and then I remembered to defrost them for a meal later, so I feel good about that.
