It’s Friday Guys – time for No Waste Tastes Great
Click here to learn more about my Friday routine
Rather than a photo of my Friday fridge, I thought I’d mix it up a little this week.
After not such a great week, last week, things definitely improved on the food waste front. That talking to myself did the trick!
Below is what I have in the fridge that needs using up
The story behind this melted (and re-hardened) white chocolate is so sweet, I’ll always remember it.
Yesterday was Valentine’s Day. Lover’s across lands exchanged cards, treats and kisses.
Upon entering class my 4-year-old son was given a packet of Love Hearts. It was one of the sweetest things I’ve ever seen.
Such an act of sweetness deserved to be reciprocated.
A few digestives, lolly sticks and melted chocolate…
Some more melted chocolate, Love Hearts (not from the gifted packet of course!), and sprinkles…
Voila! The perfect Valentine’s gift from one 4-year-old to another.
I had a dilemma however, I knew once my 4-year-old saw it – he’d also want one, and then there was his Big Sis to think about…and a few of their friends.
Before I knew it, I had a production line going on.
They were a hit on the playground after school. So worth the time and effort.
I’m wondering how many times Mom will come to the rescue when my Son forgets a birthday, an anniversary, or other special occasion in the future?
I wonder? 😉
(p.s the chocolate will be used as part of the frosting for a birthday cake I’m whipping up this weekend)
How’s your Fridge looking this Friday? Anything to declare? Or is it nice and bare? Please share…and don’t forget to drop a link in the comments if you’ve blogged about it!
No Waste Tastes Great is bought to you (as always) with thanks to The Frugal Girl for the original inspiration.

That is very sweet 🙂 And I also like the way you came up with a treat that was creative and kind of healthy 🙂

Great job saving the day for your son, Jo! It’s these little things that we do for our kids, as moms, that feel so rewarding.
