A rainy Sunday morning saw me embark on a job I’ve been putting off.
Sorting random buttons into a compartment box.
Why’d I put it off?
Well apparently I hadn’t enough time.
In fact, the real reason is I suffer from procrastination and also have difficulty categorising things. The thought of trying to identify what colour each button was seemed daunting enough for me to delay. I don’t see blue, red, brown, black etc… I see light blue, purply blue, blue with a shimmer and so on. Exhausting! 😉
So, when the hubby threatened to take the handed-down box (with sentimental attachment! let’s not even go there…) and fill it with nails – I took action.
I even managed to be really disciplined and group as simply as possible (for me).
Whilst sorting, I had an idea! A heart card decorated with buttons. Ideal for Valentine’s Day. (I’m also easily distracted)
Here it is step by step.
Draw a heart template. I used a cookie cutter.
It’s best to colour in the background as the buttons may not sit flush. If they don’t the shape may not look quite right.
Glue on the buttons;
Add a little ribbon to border the card and add a button to co-ordinate;
The twist to this post is that it’s actually a Birthday card. I prefer to make birthday cards, and gifts where possible.
This was my friend’s gift last February
This is the gift this year;
Whether it be a birthday or Valentine’s card, I reckon it’s quite a cute design? And super simple. Just how I like it!

Your cakes are always beautiful. Does your color blindness cause problems when you are making them?

I may not have explained properly above. It’s not that I can’t see colours. Rather due to the way my brain works I see lots of variations. It’s a problem with categorising rather than a visual thing!

Is it wrong that I was SO glad to read your twist? Of course, non-sentimental me has never understood the point of Valentine’s Day.

Well as I don’t send the Hubby a card and I don’t have Ryan Goslings postal address, there’s not much need for a valentines card from me! haha! The Kids occasionally make them but that’s more for ‘something to do’ !

I am a button nut, so this is very much something I would enjoy doing. Thanks for showing the process!

Think I might be a button nut too…

There are lots of us out there … have you ever googled “button crafts”? or “button wedding bouquet”? Amazing!

Now that I have got to see… Thanks!
