I promised a post today so I’m going to try to get one written up before I put the Kids to bed. (Didn’t manage it – I am finishing this off Tuesday morning… oh dear!)
Things are still a little fraught, and time is something I’m lacking.
My impromptu absence has been down to two types of things. Some good and some not-so-good. I’m not going to explore the not-so-good as part of this post, as that is ongoing. After the day I’ve had, I’d rather dwell on the good.
The Wright’s have spent a few days away at Disneyland Paris (not great timing all things considered but it had been booked quite a while).
Wednesday to Sunday I was completely unplugged. No contact with the digital world at all. But lot’s of contact with Mickey and Minnie.
The original plan had been to schedule a couple of posts prior to departure, and also update Facebook. But that required planning, and as I have mentioned fate intervened a few days before our departure, leaving no spare time.
I’ve wondered whether this trip is contradictory to much of what I believe (and also blog about). Disney could be described as commercialism on steroids. In fact a quick Google of ‘Disney and commercialism’ brings up a myriad of results. Personally, I don’t take it all that seriously. As with much of life – moderation is key. Our family trip didn’t turn into a frenzied shopping spree and I don’t feel as though I’ve been brainwashed or indoctrinated (would I know if I had?). It was altogether rather innocent and enjoyable.
Time this week is still in short supply. I’ll be back on Friday for No Waste Tastes Great, and then hopefully normal posting will resume from next week.
I really appreciate you bearing with me on this! Thank you for taking time to visit me over at my virtual place, it makes it all worth it.
P.S. I can’t post any photos currently as we had PC problems before we went on our trip (told you it never rains but it pours)
Hope things are going well for you! Have a great week y’all!

Hope things settle down soon Jo. I read somewhere ‘When life throws you Lemons, bake a cake’ life’s like that

Now that sounds like a plan! I very often find myself mixing bowl in hand at times like this. There’s a birthday coming up and Mother’s day…can feel a lemon drizzle coming on!

Jo, Loved the comment: “No contact with the digital world at all. But lotβs of contact with Mickey and Minnie”! I laughed out loud! So glad you enjoyed your Disneyland Paris trip with your family! Lots of memory-making! Also laughed about: “Disney could be described as commercialism on steroids! You are so fun! But, when I read that, I thought, “She’s exactly right”! Commercialism on steroids!
Hope things go smoothly this week and you can get back into the swing-of-things! Hugs, Cheeryshirley

While you were off having fun in Disneyland Paris, I was home making one of your slow cooker “use it up” recipes π On Saturday I made your chicken, sweet potato & onion curry, and it was just delicious. None of the kids were home for dinner that night & the leftovers I threw into the slow cooker were just enough for a tasty meal for me and my husband. Am really looking forward to your e-cookbook. I’ve been a thrifty cook for quite awhile, but you’ve given me some really good ideas to help be an even better steward of the food budget & feeding the family healthily. Looking forward to your regular “No Waste” fridge pic/posting this week, and I do hope that whatever is clouding your happiness at the moment will soon be resolved.

Susan I’m so pleased you enjoyed the recipe! I am working on the e-book but of late I’ve been time restricted. The plan is to get a move on next week.
Thanks so much for your kind words regarding everything – appreciated!

Disney is an escape to an effectively created alternate reality. It’s an experience I hope to share with my kids someday! I’m glad you were still able to get away and unplug. I’m planning to unplug next week and I can’t wait.
In fact, I think I’ll have a hard time plugging back in! π
I hope things settle down for you soon Jo. As you know, my life is in an uproar as well. It will be interesting to see how everything looks for the both of us once the dust settles.
In the meantime, hang in there! ((HUGS))

Back atcha Jenny! Glad the Dennis Potter interviews were of interest and enjoy your digital downtime. I’ll e-mail you over next day or so for catch up. Take care and massive hugs back also xx
