Hi Guys – or should I say “Salut Mes Amis”
So what did I learn from over two weeks of downing my digital tools and living the simple life in beautiful France?
- Summer wouldn’t be summer without a self-help book
- I do not need a dishwasher and definitely not a TV (but am unlikely to give them up now home)
- Sea-shells can provide hours of amusement for old and young alike
- I care not what is on the news or in the newspapers
- That the 200 e-mails that I had on my return actually only resulted in 4 requiring any action (2% of them). Hmmm – perhaps I need to start unsubscribing from some stuff eh?
I’ll be back posting this week once my feet touch the floor….aka once I’ve defeated the laundry monster
🙂

Welcome back Jo! That photo is so pretty.
It sounds like you had a great trip. I hope you get caught up on your laundry quickly!

Thanks Jenny – it was early evening on a Brittany Beach. Hubby and Second Born bottom left trying to get a kite in the air, First Born lying in the sand on the right with her kite flying. Oh and random couple in the distance. As you posted earlier – quality time. Pure and Simple x

Welcome back. No one ‘needs’ a dishwasher or TV but they do make life a little more enjoyable. 🙂

Too true! ‘Need’ is a strong word! 🙂

Welcome back! Beautiful picture – it so reminds me of evenings at “our” beach. What a lovely feeling.
Seems strange and lovely to me to be able to go to a different country without going very far. In Canada you can start at one coast and drive for a week and still not be at the other coast 🙂

Jo.H – You are so lucky to live near the beach! (is that what you mean? if it is – very jealous!)
I live in the middle of England so all coastline is approx. a similar distance, North, South, East and West (I’m about equal distance between Lands End/Cornwall and Edinburgh/Scotland). None of it is very far. All can easily be done in a days car drive (or much less in many cases – i.e Wales – We’re much longer than we are wide in the UK). France is a hop skip and a jump compared to the distance you Guys travel over there to visit a different country. I’ve only visited Canada once, but I found it beautiful, and might I add very clean!

We have a cottage at the shore, about a half hour drive from our home. For various reasons we haven’t spent any time there for the past few years, but your picture brought back the sound and smell and feel of the evenings very strongly.
Do you mind me asking what part of Canada you visited?

The cottage sounds lovely!
We skied in Whistler for almost two weeks. Flew into Vancouver. It is one of my favourite holidays ever. The last ski trip pre-kids. I have never felt so relaxed as I did those two weeks. A little piece of heaven on earth.

I’ve never been to France before. It must have been a beautiful trip! It sounds like a lovely vacation and a great chance to unplug from everything too. Awesome!

France is a beautiful country. It’s approx. 3 times the size of the UK and has a similar population so there’s space to breath! I also love the French attitude. You are allowed to take responsibility for yourself and they encourage you to set an example to others. Sitting by the pool one sign read – ‘set an example to your children’ regarding pool etiquette and behaviour. Love it! The unplugging was a real bonus, it did make a difference, I felt I had a true mental break from it all… perfect 🙂
