It’s Friday Guys and time for No Waste Tastes Great.
Those who follow this blog know that the original inspiration came from The Frugal Girl’s Food Waste Friday where Kristen shares with her readers any food waste she has incurred. Others join in with the aim to keep us mindful of what we have that is perishable. What I try to do is take it a little further and challenge myself to use up any potential waste, and hopefully inspire others to do the same.
It is estimated that in the UK 8.3m tonnes of food each year gets thrown away by households. This equates to almost £700 a year of food waste for an average family. By reducing this waste in real terms the CO2 impact would be the equivalent of taking 1 in 4 cars the road. (* source www.lovefoodhatewaste.com)
Anyhow back to No Waste Tastes Great!
This morning once again I had the task of completing a Birthday Cake before checking out the fridge and perishables cupboard.
Quite pleased with this one – can you guess the theme of the party? The Hubby asked why I had made little cars out of icing yesterday as I left them on the counter to set before piping the icing on top – always one for a bit of praise NOT!
Onto SimplyBeingMum’s Fridge and Cupboard… and as if by fate guess what I found lurking? Eggs, Pots and Peppers… the strange mixture in the bowl is left over buttercream for the next cake which gets started Sunday…
I had just finished replying to Gip about Tortillas from my previous post, and yes I have ingredients for a Tortilla (Frittata) tonight for the hubby… very odd! Honestly this is what was left…bizarre! The Kids and I are meeting up with Big Sis for a Carvery (aka Sunday Roast). Not the best timing as it appears to be almost 30 degrees outside, but hey…
Talking about the weather, which is something us Brits love to do… It’s a fantastic first weekend in the UK for The Minimalist Mom after her big move. Enjoy the sun Rachel!
Have a lovely weekend y’all, back tomorrow with a meal planning post…
