My Minimalist Mojo Is Back

February 8, 2011 by SimplyBeingMum

My Minimalist Mojo is back, not sure where it went in January but it’s definitely kicking back in.

Hence two posts in one day… I’m feeling motivated!

Firstly I forgot to mention on Friday I had my long locks of hair chopped off. For some strange reason I had been growing it and it was ridiculously long. It’s not anymore!

Cutting of one’s hair can be symbolic. It can mean many things, generally for me it’s when I am motivated and ready to get on.

The decision to chop was also due to the fact that I was spending an inordinate amount of time washing, drying and doing other associated things to it.

I was even putting off exercise such as running and swimming due to having to wash it. It was a hinderance. Well no more ’cause it’s gone.

Profile picture to be changed soon – is that a promise or a threat? haha!

Secondly I know my Minimalist Mojo is back because I did a ‘Speed Declutter’ this PM. I had stopped by Dr Laura’s Blog, and noticed a 75 things declutter challenge over 75 days. Feeling pumped I reckoned I could chuck 75 things in an hour. Due to a phone call my slot reduced to 20 minutes, but I did well – I decluttered 51 items. Not very large items, three bags worth went straight to the bin.

Thirdly I completed my first ever Guest Post for So Much More Life (and am about to e-mail it across). So for those reading whom I still owe guest posts to, there is hope yet that you will at some point get them.

Sorry Guys I have struggled this year to get in the writing groove.

Glad you have your writing mojo back!!

Can we see the hair? People with really long hair like you’ve had don’t really know what ‘short’is. I’m thinking of getting my hair lopped ‘short’. It gets so hot here that it drives me crazy, then we have a few days of cooler weather like now and I lose my resolve to do it. Talk about procrastination: short hair easier to deal with but you have to get it cut regularly; will I look middle aged; if it looks bad it will take an age to grow back, blah, blah blah.

My definition in this case is between ears and shoulders – I was thinking about going shorter but I’m pretty sure it would have stressed the hairdresser out, she had already cut about 10 inches off the length! Cutting hair is a tough one, there are all sorts of associated feelings when you are a woman. I had it drummed into me as a child that it was my ‘crowning glory’. I always worry I will look plain, boring and of course fat and old – but cest la vie I can’t hide behind a head of hair all my life. Go for it Deb! I love short – real short hair – it looks very classy and sophisticated! I might join you next time I go in – when it’s not quite so dramatic.

I didn’t know it would be your first guest post. That’s amazing. I’m looking forward to getting it, then I plan to put it up at 6 am Central Time on Friday.

Also, I’ve been planning to write a post about minimalist hair styles, and I noticed today that Kat at Kat Simplified just did — with a new profile picture. Here’s a link to her post:

Cheers Tanja – yes very exciting… I edited it so many times. I don’t do that here, I just go with it knowing I can edit after – is that unprofessional? Hmmm maybe?
