I truly love blogging. Really I do.
However if I had to choose between writing for this blog or commenting on other peoples blogs, I would choose the latter.
Commenting wins every time. For me commenting is a bit like having yourself reflected back to you. Sometimes I do not know where a comment is going until I have written it. Then I read it, and think ‘oh so that’s what I really think’. Every time I comment (well almost every time) I learn something.
So that got me thinking, I spend more time commenting than I do blogging each week, so how about a post with little snippets of comments I have made over the last couple of weeks, but out of context…
Here goes – whether this works or not – I’ll let you guys decide…
“They are likely to be doggy chocs and they are fine :-)” The Queen and I: Revisiting The Cashless Life and Credit, Too
“…Not sure what a Paleo diet is but pretty sure I’ll be joining you on it – think I’ll skip the boogers” 4 Hour Body Week 3 Update and Cyborgasms!
“…I laughed until I nearly wet myself (That’s what happens after two kids – Too much info I know – but it’s the truth) – page 30 where he talks about winning kickboxing Championships by pushing his opponent off their platforms and thus winning by default – I’ll take that to my deathbed” so you want a life of freedom eh? here’s the secret to life!
“…I love beer, I drink it, I cook with it so why not wash my hair in it” 2011 Challenge: personal grooming
“…Courage is rather exciting as it evokes images of knights on horseback or William Wallace shouting ‘they’ll never take our freedom’… Determination is less exciting” Sam Spurlin On Simplicity & Courage
“I’ll be watching when she does introduce you” Month By Month…I Just Couldn’t Drag It Out Any Longer
“…I was also a packrat and am now a recovering sentimental hoarder with minimalistic tendencies” It’s a Brand New Minimalistish Movement
And where would blogging be without the functionality to comment on one’s own blog?
“…slow cook – seriously it’s the future” Simple Meal Plan 22 Jan 2011 and some great reading

Posting is such hard work compared to the freedom of commenting. I have to set myself boundaries; post must be up before commenting allowed.
Lot’s of my posts are inspired by my commenting activity, so for me I view them as productive as working on my posts… but as with most things in life ‘different strokes for different folks’ 🙂 pleased to see you have a new post up and have successfully made your move!

Thanks for the mention. We’ve both gotten some mileage out of the queen’s handbag, haven’t we?
You comments are an important part of my blog, and I value them greatly. Thanks for doing some of your best writing in So Much More Life’s comments section.
Commenting is as much an art as posting.
Gip
I wonder if The Queen know’s how inspiring her handbag is? I share your view on comments, without comments I wouldn’t have started reading blogs or blogging myself – they are it’s lifeline (IMO)

Writing a blog post takes a lot more organization and preparation than commenting.
The great thing about comments is that they’re highly reactionary.
Even people who can’t write to save their lives otherwise can typically bash out a few sentences in response to something else.
Given the choice between a thousand readers who don’t comment or 100 who do, I’d take the 100 who do any day.
Each opinion extends the conversation, and some of my best post ideas have come from feedback (through my contact form) or the comment section.
Oh Robert so much I can reply to this:
1. I don’t do a lot of prep – should I admit that? – shocking!!
2. Agree – I love a good reaction – get the adrenalin pumping!
3. I’m not a writer but will have a bash at posting and commenting – I just get stuck in!
4. I’d love 100 commenters! although I’m grateful for anyone reading this mish mash of heaven knows what!! Whether they comment or not… at least I’m not talking to myself? Well not entirely 😉
5. Agree agree agree, comments received and given are inspiring!! Where would we be without them? Every day I learn something from a comment I make, because until you have to really consider it how do you know what you believe?
Thanks for the comment – anything in there you can use for a post????
🙂
I learnt from this comment that I use ? and ! far too much

Wow, that’s exactly how I feel! Sometimes I just start writing and something kinda good just pops out at me! I think I’m a bit of a comment junkie too. Okay, Maybe more than just a bit…

Comments seem to make all the hard work worth it, ya know?! It’s almost like validation. I enjoy the comments I receive, and I love networking with the people who leave comments. It’s a great way to build relationships in the blogging community.
All the best,
Lisa
