Simple Chicken Tikka Masala Slow Cooker Recipe – Serves 4
This Slow Cooker recipe is so easy as it requires very little preparation. Authentic indian dishes can contain a long list of ingredients if cooking from scratch – this recipe is quick and easy and tastes fantastic!
Lazy but Tasty!
You will need:
1 x Standard Slow Cooker
4 x Skinless Chicken Breasts (I use free range)
1 x Onion (diced)
1 x Tin/Carton of Chopped Tomatoes
1/2 Jar of Tikka Masala Paste (I use Pataks)
2 x Tablespoons of double cream or natural yogurt for a lower fat version
Instructions:
1. Turn Slow Cooker on High
2. Dice onion and add to Slow Cooker
3. Cube chicken and add to Slow Cooker
4. Stir in 1/2 Jar (approx. 150g) of Tikka Masala Paste
5. Stir in Chopped Tomatoes
6. Replace lid and turn to Low – leave 6-8 hours
7. 15 minutes before serving remove lid and add cream/yogurt and stir
Serve with Rice and/or Naan
Please remember that whilst cooking you should not lift the Slow Cooker lid as this increases cooking time by 20 minutes each time you take a peek! Ensure that chicken is covered by the sauce before cooking and then there is no need to stir during cooking. Leave at least 6 hours to ensure chicken is cooked throughout – you can leave longer – I do!
Spread the word and let’s start a Slow Cooker revolution!

I cooked this today for my OH and it has gone down well thanks! I wouldn’t have thought of only adding half the pataks jar.
I used turkey instead of chicken, just becasue I had some.
I served it all with steamed spinach for some added green and it only takes 5 mins to do.
I now have 3 servings to freeze: excellent.
Thanks for the reminder about not lifting the lid – and I hadn’t realsied it adds 20mins everytime you do.

Hi Katharine – Glad this went down well! Not sure what Pataks you used. There is the sauce and the paste. I use the paste as it is concentrated. The turkey is a great substitute as lower in fat, but slow cooked it retains moisture which very often gets lost with traditional cooking of turkey due to lack of fat. The spinach sounds great! I have some frozen, and really should use it more often – how tired I am feeling lately I perhaps could do with an iron blast… Read your meals for the other day, considering your diet is strict it all sounded pretty good. like the idea of the avocado smoothie… Going to have to give it a try. Jo

I used the paste that you had recommended Jo: that’s what is great about online shopping; very easy to just select and add to one’s order.
I can really recommend the juice/smoothie – it is so delicious. I juice a collander full of spinach, 2 apples,1/3 cucumber/2 long sticks celery then blend in half to one avo, depending on size.(I should menetion this is a Jason Vale recipe).
Although avocadoes are seen as ‘fattening’ they are of course full of very good fats and good for skin. I’ve lost 18lbs in the last 6 months having a daily green juice/smoothie as descibed above and an ordinary green smoothie of say banana and kale and gradually making other big changes to my diet, but having plenty of avocadoes and nuts.
I can point you in the direction of some good green smoothie websites if you want. It has been a SIMPLE and delicious way to add loads of green leafy veg to my life, where you just blend green leaves with fruit 40/60 ratio)and are equally good for kids too in smaller quantities.
My energy has definitely improved (it needed to!) since doing the smoothies (and that was before I went to 80% Raw).
