We’ve been back a few days from our tour of the Norfolk and Suffolk coast.
I’d like to say I’m back on track – but that wouldn’t be true.
This morning, for example, I haven’t been able to follow my usual Friday routine. There was a school trip which I had volunteered to help with.
I am so behind that I never found time to reply to last weeks Food waste Friday comments, nor did I post, this week, as planned.
Following on the theme of taking a holiday, I’m taking one today. I’ll sort my Fridge later on tonight and pop to Aldi before it closes. I’ll confess any waste on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter, should there be any!
This is unusual for me, even when on actual holiday I participate in Food Waste Friday.
And I have the video from last week to prove it 😉
It got me thinking, do others still think about reducing waste even when on holiday and vacation?
I’m thinking yes. Am I correct?
In fact this post from The Frugal Girl herself, would suggest that reducing food waste is very much a part of daily life, whether that be home or away.
(I’ll definitely be back, with renewed vigour, at the blog next week. In fact It’s a big week for me…)
Looks lovely, so windswept. Welcome back!
You raise an interesting question about food waste and events like holidays or such as we experienced this week, 2 birthdays in one week. There is the extra from celebrating and it is easy to over shop “just in case”. My effort this week is in the middle and as always I try to use everything up. The Friday fridge is a little scary though….

I definetly have waste on my radar when on holiday. When we were in Florida in April i went to Aldi (loved it-so different to ours) to do a food shop. I bought lots of bottled water and snacks to take in the parks, it saved us a fortune then meal planned around the days we were eating out. We did have waste though, their spread/butter didn’t taste right and it took a few attempts at finding bread that was acceptable to our palletts!! Oh how we missed warburtons toasty!! We also paid close attention to our bins, almost everything was single use only, our bins were heaving!! I think that some habits are so ingrained, even a holiday doesn’t upset the equilibrium!! We are hardcore 🙂 Again a thought provoking post!
