Not Buying It – Gym Membership

I used to be a gym-bunny. In those days I was corporate suited and booted, childless and of course much younger. A career-girl and all the time in the world for myself.

10 to 15 years on, I am probably in the best shape of my life. Don’t get me wrong, you won’t find me appearing in sports illustrated in a swimsuit. No tight abs for me, bearing 2 children can cause a lot of collateral damage.

However I’m fitter than I have ever been, and there’s not a gym membership in sight.

Gretchen and I agree that ‘What you do every day matters more than what you do once in a while‘. The key, for me, to fitness is to keep moving and to incorporate that into daily life. That’s something I was unable to do sitting behind a desk 5 days a week 9-5.

The biggest change to my fitness level however came when I took up running, regularly.

And The Winner Is…(Aldi UK Easter Giveaway)

Happy Sunday Guys!

This is an impromptu post as I thought I’d share how we did the draw over here at Chez Wright for the Aldi UK Easter giveaway.

The original plan had been to video it and post it on Facebook. However I’m suffering a little after this morning’s half-marathon and didn’t fancy my chances at getting it done first time and uploaded (whilst being the independent adjudicator supervising 2 young children). With all that’s been going on training hasn’t been a priority. I’m thinking of setting up a new blog http://www.underprepared.com ;-)

Anyhow…

There were 20 entrants in the giveaway. On a wall sat 20 Aldi chocolate bunnies

Simple Slow Cooked Three Bean & Vegetable Chilli Recipe

Since Twilight Turned Me Vegetarian, this has been one of my favourite slow-cooked recipes. The sundried tomatoes are the secret ingredient that make all the difference.

To Buy Or Not To Buy – That Is The Question

It’s that time of year again. My boot’s have had their annual make-over. Last Spring it was new soles at a cost of £12.50. This year new insoles at a cost of £2.99. The heels will soon need replacing adding a further cost of £7-£10.

Not bad for a pair of boots that I originally bought off eBay 3 years ago second-hand for £35.

This will be the second year that I’ve debated whether to replace. They were nearly a ‘goner’ last May when a spanking new pair of shiny Dune boots arrived by courier. Then were returned. I couldn’t do it.

It’s becoming a matter of principle or maybe loyalty, I’m not sure.

Even my very frugal Mom commented ’Why not get a new pair?’. Indeed why not? I’m asking myself that very question. But it’s getting harder to make that purchase. I most certainly have the ‘make do and mend’ bug.

13 months ago now I guest posted about how I consciously spend. A year later, if I’m in any doubt at all I don’t make the purchase. Previously if I was unsure, I’d have made the purchase, just in case.

So why don’t I replace them?

Hey There!

I promised a post today so I’m going to try to get one written up before I put the Kids to bed. (Didn’t manage it – I am finishing this off Tuesday morning… oh dear!)

Things are still a little fraught, and time is something I’m lacking.

My impromptu absence has been down to two types of things. Some good and some not-so-good. I’m not going to explore the not-so-good as part of this post, as that is ongoing. After the day I’ve had, I’d rather dwell on the good.

The Wright’s have spent a few days away at Disneyland Paris (not great timing all things considered but it had been booked quite a while).

No Waste Tastes Great / A Little Reminder

Hi Guys – It’s Tuesday – time for No Waste Tastes Great

Did I type that right? Actually it is Tuesday, I’m having to down digital tools until Monday 12th March. This post has been scheduled to land on Friday as usual.

I couldn’t let a Friday go by without No Waste Tastes Great. I can’t participate this week, but I’d love it if you still did. Both here and over at Facebook.

If confused then check out my post from earlier in the week, there’s an poor-quality photo of my fridge from then.

I’ll be back on Monday 12 March with a post, and would love it if you’ll hang around and bear with me.

Have a great week y’all!
