Faminimalism – Deb Burn’s Story From Life Beyond Stuff

Hang onto your hat’s Guys – It’s Deb’s turn at sharing…
Deb’s blog Life Beyond Stuff is just a click away if you haven’t popped over to her place yet – sit back, enjoy and then please go pay her a visit!

Extreme Faminimalisation

This is my story of extreme faminimalisation. It is not for the faint hearted and probably should not be tried at home.

I faminimalised my family by faminimalising myself and they really had no choice in the matter.  Some of them became very angry with me and I think one of them still is.

Simple Meal Plan 26 March 2011 Plus Some Links

I’m going to keep this short and simple today. I have just written the first post over at No Waste Tastes Great and am already wondering whether I have bitten off more than I can chew trying to run two blogs at once!

:-)

No Waste Tastes Great 25 March 2011

It’s Friday Guys! It’s time for

No Waste Tastes Great

Fridays I take a little time first thing to strip down the fridge and perishables cupboard, clean them, take note of anything that needs replenishing, return any items back to the fridge leaving what needs using up on the counter.

Click here to find out more about my Friday Routine

Well great news – the fridge is bare! No Waste! Yay!

As we were away last weekend, I didn’t have my usual groceries delivered, and made the decision to really scrimp through the cupboards and freezer so I didn’t have to do any shopping. Very successful… or so I thought…

Look what was hiding in the cupboard? Arggghhhhhhh!

(p.s. I haven’t magically stuck them to the wall – it’s an optical illusion!)

Okay so I am looking for suggestions as to what to do with these babies. I have an idea of my own, which will go down very well with the kids, but doesn’t consist of anyone eating them.

This does mean that tonight the Hubby and I get a Date Night

Friday Night is Date Night at Chez Wright

The added, added bonus is that we have a sitter, so the plan is to pop into the village for a beer and a balti – result!

The kids have been catered for by an emergency drop off of a few essentials for their tea – seriously we are almost completely foodless. The freezer consists of Frozen Peas, Frozen Spinach, Ice-Cream and Chicken Stock – I reckon even Heston Blumenthal would struggle to rustle up something with that. For more info on Heston check out The Fat Duck

My New Blog’s first post will go live tomorrow with what I decided to do with the potatoes… I’ll post the link over here for those who want to take a look.

Faminimalism – Jenny from Ex-Consumer’s Story

Jenny over at Ex-Consumer shares her story today. I met (in the virtual sense) Jenny just a few weeks back and am so glad I did.  Sit back and enjoy…

Ever since Jo asked me to write this post, I’ve spent a lot of time thinking about how and why I got to the place I am today. See, I just recently became acquainted with the term “minimalism,” and while I own far more things than most minimalists, I’m working on trimming the fat in my life and consciously choosing the things I decide to keep.

No Waste Tastes Great 18 March 2011

It’s Friday Guys!

No Waste Tastes Great!

Not this week!

We are away, so there’s no NWTG post this Friday. However we don’t have any waste – I made sure of that knowing that we were taking a long weekend.

There’s some news however… next week will see the launch of my additional new Blog called wait for it…

No Waste Tastes Great

Bet you didn’t guess that?

:-)

More info to follow, but basically I have an awful lot of food related posts I would like to write that I don’t feel fit here, so I will be linking to the other blog for those who are interested in food, meal planning, recipes, top tips etc…

Have a lovely Friday and weekend everyone – I plan to!

(Check back tomorrow for Jenny at Ex-Consumer’s Faminimalism story that’s scheduled)

Mid March Update As Promised/Threatened!

For those of you with ultra long memories (or those who give a rats ass actually care what I am up to – haha!) I promised a Mid-March Update.

This was initially an update on My Simple Exercise and Eating Plan to shift the Mum Tum.

Well guess what? I have failed. I have a lovely long list of all the reasons I did not succeed in reducing my waistline, but all it is a great big dose of ‘Excusitus’! So no bikini snaps of moi!

I think the lack of motivation actually stemmed from a visit to a Osteopath who commented that after having two kids I stand a cat’s in hell chance of a flat stomach ever again (okay so I am paraphrasing) – but the prognosis wasn’t great. Apparently my abdominal muscles are ‘dragging’ – what does that mean? – it sounds sinister!

So no heavier than I was and no lighter – here I am Mum of Two with a bit of a Tum. Still exactly the same – average Jo as always!

Faminimalism – Gip Plaster’s Story

This Sunday’s Faminimalism Story is shared by Gip Plaster (yes his real name!) who writes over at So Much More Life. Grab a coffee, sit back and enjoy………………………………………………………………………………..

I was something very much like a minimalist long before people used that term for those of us who live simple, deliberate lives.

Notice that although my household consists of two humans, my simple journey is in the first person singular.

Like lots of people, I got temporarily caught up the consumer mentality, but I never got in very deep. For one thing, I never had the money to spend freely. And I’ve never liked nice clothes, jewelry or fancy embellishments of any kind.

When I first got interested in reading about a simpler lifestyle, people used terms like voluntary simplicity and frugal living to mean the same thing that minimalism means now. While a minimalist may not always be frugal, the same principles apply to both lifestyles: A desire to make careful choices rather than simply following the herd off a cliff and into financial, spiritual or mental ruin.

Simple Meal Plan 12 March 2011 – My 100th Post!

How very appropriate that my 100th post should be a Simple Meal Plan!

Also how very typical is it that I need to rush it, as I have very limited time today!

:-)

Firstly an update on my Simple Meal Plan experiment last week.

Do Good, Declutter and Donate Your Denim!

Impromptu post Guys!

Donate Your Denim!

After popping back in on a comment stream over at The Minimalist Mom and rejoining the conversation I thought I’d share something with you…

An average resale value of a pair of denim jeans through a UK charity shop (goodwill store) is approx. £5. Continue reading
